bruschetta sunrise

Description:
the other day when i went to bali for a friend's wedding, i kind of craving for tequilla or vodka sunrise and some decent bruschetta. but the wedding was german. and the cocktail they serve was only capirinha. because the bartender was not a real bartender, he was just a friend of the groom who lent a helping hand. and of course, there was no bruschetta. i had some during one of the brunch, but none even close to my cravings.

so, anyway. yesterday i bought some sunflower seeds bread. they were rather expensive. 28'000 for 6 slices of bread. and i have some leftover mozzarella. and last night after thinking what will i eat the bread with, i remembered that i still have some pesto and canned tuna chunks. so, i decided to make this for breakfast today.

Ingredients:
2 slices of sunflower bread
3 teaspoon of tuna chunks
1-2 teaspoon of instant pesto (who would have the time to chop all those basil and pinenuts?)
shredded mozzarella. the more the merrier. or should i say the meltier.

Directions:
1. lay out the bread on to a plate. pick a pretty plate. so, it will look good in the picture.
2. mix the pesto and the tuna.
3. spread the mixed tuna-pesto on to one of the bread.
4. spread the shredded mozzarella on top of the tuna-pesto layer.
5. spread the mozzarella on top of the other bread.
6. pop them up in the microwave of low heat for 3 – 6 minutes. depends on how you would like your cheese to melt.
7. after several minutes, take them out of the microwave.
8. this is it! bruschetta sunrise ala chef not farah quinn! (don't flush it with vodka, although it might help to get you through the day, getting drunk at the start of the week doesn’t pay off. especially if you need to present the tv interview plan to the bigboss).

when am not out abusing people

i make these. for cupcakes toppings.

although all of them look anything but. the left one is a monkey. who doesn’t resemble even a defected one. the middle one is a giraffe. who looks like a long neck cow with a chicken pox. and the right one is a lion. who somehow looks like winnie the pooh wearing a sun costume. oh, well. practice makes perfect.

(qua)tre formaggi

Description:
hmm.. i like cheese. i don't buy gadgets when i have extra money. i buy cheese. the real ones. and when it comes the day when the fridge is full of cheese. this is what happened.

Ingredients:
4 slices of batard (available in carrefour)
a grub of roquefort (available when a colleague just came back from visiting france)
2 dice of swiss emmental, thin sliced (available after 2 weeks perdiem in rural papua)
a cube of gruyere, thin square sliced (available from a back to back field trip perdiem)
4 teaspoons of italian dressing (available in all fresh salad bar)

Directions:
1. spread the roquefort on two slices of batard, then each batard is sprinkled with a teaspoon of italian dressing.
2. spread the swiss emmental on a slice of batard then sprinkle with a teaspoon of italian dressing.
3. spread the gruyere on a slice of batard then sprinkle with a teaspoon of italian dressing.
4. pop them up in an oven or a microwave with a low heat for 2 to 3 minutes, just until the cheese melt.
5. take them out, take a picture, post it on your blogs, then enjoy!

notes:
• roquefort is a hardcore cheese, and i ain't talking about the texture. so, for those of you, who are not cheese persons, may feel like you're making out with a goat. it tastes a bit bitter with a sandy feeling when you chew, so you can change it with other kinds of amateur (ha!) cheese. 'though it will never be the same, suckers!
• my favorite cheese is the swiss emmental. sometimes when you enjoy it too much, it started to taste like meat. and that is exactly why i love the swiss emmental.
• the italian dressing is just to moist the bread when you microwave or oven them, you can change it with just olive oil or butter if you don't mind heart attack. i personally love italian dressing because it has a garlic-y spicy soury taste, you know, to keep the vampires from vamping your meal instead of your neck.
• basically you can use any cheese, even the cheap cheddar, but expensive cheese taste so much better.
• beware of flies, it's the roquefort, it smells also like a never been washed socks. or the gutter.
• brush your teeth, wash your face after you had them, unless you prefer the flies than the hotties to linger around you the whole day.

14.2.10

cheeseled bread

Description:
the quickest breakfast ever. teach you never to throw food. and that almost expired bread is sometimes can be as good as a fresh bread. just make sure the fungi hasn't built a colony, yet.

Ingredients:
some almost (or couple of days already) expired bread
quickmelt cheese of the cheapest brand
office microwave oven
african hippo serves as garnish

Directions:
1. check for any fungi, should there be any, rip it off of the bread. if not, then you're in luck. if there were too many, don't be such a cheap ass, throw it!
2. lay out 3 slices of almost expired bread (or as much as you want, also depend on how close the expiry dates are) on a plate.
3. grate or thin-slice the quickmelt cheese on top of each bread (the more the merrier. i myself prefer to put the cheese almost covering all the bread's surface).
4. put the plate inside the microwave then close the microwave's door (not sure what will happen if it stays open, but i'm pretty sure it's not pretty).
5. set the microwave on the 'heat the frozen stuff' mode (varied symbol on each type of microwave, but it usually has the 'snowflake' symbol).
6. set the timer for 3 minutes. then hit the 'on' button.
7. as what barney stinson said in how i met your mother, 'wait for it...'
8. then after it dings! your breakfast is ready!
9. take it to your booth (so your colleagues won't bobbing for them), garnish it with anything (in my case, the african hippo), take a picture, post it on facebook or any of your blog, then have a bite! enjoy!

tips:
best bread to use would be the ones like batard (or any of the salty kind) but the locally customized ones. in some store, e.g. the foodmart, they have the puravita kind, it's good because it stays soft even after a week (unlike batard). fungi may occur on some spots, but they're easily removed and the bread would stay soft yet crisp when heated.

gluttonised reverie

Description:

salsa:
1 buah tomat segar, dipotong dadu kecil.
2 buah jeruk nipis buang bijinya, peras sarinya.

Directions:
6. aduk-aduk hingga semua tercampur rata. taburi penyedap rasa.
