in indonesia: scrapbook for sören's farewell

i took the left picture sometime last year during one of the rare business/pleasure trip, then give it a whiz to create the vintage look. turn out ok.

the picture on the right was taken in a photo studio. he loves bali. maybe even a bit too much.

i used to think that scrapbooking is cheesy (i resent emotions. true fact). as i am not the kind of person who keeps things because they are memorable. though i cherished experience a lot. i keep things in mind, not in closets.

but as i got older, i realized that my mind would someday be too full of memories. as one of my late lecturer once said, human mind is like a cupboard with so many drawers. and at times we choose to keep what we want to keep, so one day we could go back and look at them again. that's why human needs to be organized in keeping their memories. so, they'd know where to look. and having solid stuff could be a way to pinpoint a certain memory.

and as it is okay to show emotions. there's no harm in bookmarking your memories. and those bookmarks can be just about anything. from movie tickets. dried flowers. dead bugs. and photos help. more than a lot. and scrapbooking just makes them more interesting.

so, i present to you my very first scrapbook. i made this for my colleague at work, sören. he finishes his mission in indonesia this week. he's swedes, and likes the color blue. hence, the dominant blue. i will miss brainstorming about work (and other stuff) with him every morning. it's his first mission abroad with the office. i hope he never forget us
